Horse-man-ship Mentality - Your posture speaks to your horse!
Thoughts from the saddle with Dennis;
How important is your posture in communicating clearly to your horse what you want them to do?
It all depends on what you want. If you are satisfied with letting your horse just carry you around, then posture is not that important.
If you want to be a positive influence to your horse, thereby enhancing your horse's ability to do everything you desire, then the awareness of your posture is of the utmost importance.
Especially that of your upper body. Chances are that if your upper body down to your sitz bones is in the proper position, then your hands can become secondary to that of your upper body.
However; if your weight is on the wrong side or you are learning the incorrect way you will have to use more leg and hand to get your horse to overcome what you're telling them with your upper body.
This might be foreign to some of you at this point and that is okay! But with awareness and deliberate conscious thought, you can implement this concept with outstanding results.

Interesting. I think our position is a great thing to be aware of and where we put our weight can either hinder or influence our horse.
